Cheryl and her husband moved to Wake Forest
16 years ago and really love being part of their charming town. She has watched the community grow in leaps and bounds and tried to be part of that growth, advocating for the community and the small town feel.
Cheryl is a mom of two teen boys in Wake County Public Schools currently attending High School in Wake Forest. She has been involved in many activities at their schools since pre-school. She has volunteered many hours working with students, teachers, PTA, and many school events, including sports and clubs, such as school plays and football. She also volunteered with a pilot program started at another local elementary school for Every Tray Counts, a wonderful program to teach the children about composting and more eco-friendly lunches.
Cheryl earned her degree in Interior Design, and continued on with coursework in Business Management. For over 16 years she worked as a Senior Mortgage Underwriter, trained processors, and final sign off on loans over $1 million. She also established a new start-up branch, and reformed another to run more efficiently with new policies and procedures. When she moved to Wake Forest she focused more on Property Management, which allowed her to dedicate her time to raising her two active boys.
As a mom and volunteer Cheryl is aware of the struggles our children, parents, and teachers face, the obstacles that get in their way, and how they feel unheard, as she also tried to work with the schools to help with her son and met obstacles. She cares about the real issues and getting to the source of the problems and resolutions. She sees the need to make imperative changes that focus on our students learning, and
